How we help The difference we make Neil's Story During the 18 months I spent in prison I took part in the Storybook Dads project at HMP Dartmoor in 2023. It made such a difference, and my boys loved the video stories I sent to them. The staff at Storybook Dads asked me if I would like to be trained to be an audio and video editor. I enjoyed being an editor at Dartmoor prison. I knew I was making a difference to the lives of other prisoners and their children. When they opened an editing centre in the community in 2024, I’d already been released, so Storybook Dads asked me if I wanted to become a paid staff member. I’m still with them now in 2026 and as well as editing and production, I help with IT, as well as being an ambassador for them. I continue to read regularly to my sons now that I’m out. My family are also very proud that I get to help people who were in the same position as me. I hope that my experience can show people that there is light at the end of the tunnel and you can go forward and do something positive. Manage Cookie Preferences
