Covid-19 restrictions means that some prisons haven't been able to offer Storybook Dads/Mums CD or DVD recordings and visits are restricted or have stopped completely. We started Swaps as a way to keep prisoners and their children connected, especially if we are unable to have face to face contact with prisoners and our coordinators are unable to record prisoners reading a story.

How does it work?

A pack of activity sheets are delivered to to the participant (to complete in cell). Storybook Dads then posts a pack of the same sheets to the child at home, with an envelope to return the sheets once complete (we pay the postage costs). Prisoners and their children then 'swap' their sheets so they can learn interesting and fun stuff about each other.
